About this resource
Why this resource exists
Most writing about advisory-practice transitions is aimed at the individual advisor selling a book of clients. That is a real transaction and it is well covered. The sale of a registered investment adviser — an entity with a regulator, a filing history, and often several owners — is a different transaction, and it is covered badly if at all.
This resource exists to fill that gap, because the entity-level questions are the ones that surface late and cost money.
Who publishes this
Sell My RIA Practice is published by KG Enterprises. We are not attorneys, accountants, investment advisers, brokers, or compliance consultants, and nothing here is advice.
What we do is read the primary sources — the Investment Advisers Act, SEC releases and staff guidance, Form ADV itself, and the agreements that actually govern these transactions — organize what they say, and write it down in plain language for the person on the other side of the table. That is a publisher’s job, not an adviser’s, and we would rather do it well than claim to be something we are not.
Where a question turns on your specific facts — and in this subject nearly all of them do — we say so and send you to securities counsel instead of guessing. You will find that notice on every regulatory page here. It is not a disclaimer bolted on at the end; it is the editorial rule the whole site is written under.
How this is funded
Sell My RIA Practice is an authorized lead-generation partner of buyAUM. If you ask to be introduced and a transition eventually completes, buyAUM compensates us. You are never charged a fee, at any stage. Nothing is shared with any buyer without your explicit go-ahead.
We disclose this on every page rather than in a footer nobody reads, because a resource that stands to benefit from your decision should say so before you rely on it.
What we don’t do
We do not list firms, run auctions, circulate your details, or contact anyone on your behalf without asking first. We do not review your documents, opine on whether a particular consent mechanism applies to you, or advise on the timing of a filing. Consent mechanics, ADV amendments and partnership agreements all need securities counsel — we will say so rather than pretend otherwise.
How to check us
Every regulatory statement on this site is attributed to the rule, the form, or the agreement it comes from, rather than asserted on our authority. If something here cannot be traced back to a source you can read yourself, treat it as our reading of the situation and weigh it accordingly.
If you find something wrong, tell us at outreach.kgenterprises@gmail.com. We will correct it, and we will say that we did.
No physical address is published, by design. Sellers in this position are often exploring an exit that their partners, staff and clients do not yet know about. Reach us by email and nothing is created anywhere until you ask for it.
